Meet Zuul
Terror Dogs, a race of inter-dimensional hellhounds with possession abilities, characterized by glowing red eyes, sharp horns, long teeth, and thick hides; Steadfast companions of their masters, the two most well known in recorded history, Zuul and Vinz Clortho, emissaries of Gozer, terrorized the founding Ghostbusters during their first year in business.

Class VII. Fully Corporeal Possessors. For years, Gozerian cultists anticipated the coming of Vinz Clortho and Zuul, the minions and emissaries of Gozer, who would pave the way for the Destructor's coming - and the world's end.
The most powerful members of a race of other-dimensional, bearlike creatures that have sometimes been referred to as "terror dogs," Vinz Clortho and Zuul were posessing entities that could take over the bodies of any mortal species.
The two minions were able to travel inter-dimensionally in their search for beings they could use to bring about the coming of Gozer. Entering a new world, they would each find a mortal host and possess them; this would transform the hosts into the Keymaster and the Gatekeeper, the individuals who, once united, would perform the rites needed to summon Gozer.
Once the summoning was completed, the hosts would be transmogrified into Vinz Clortho and Zuul's true forms, demonic terror dogs.

New York in the 80's
In 1984 Manhattan, a paranormal cataclysm was boiling over. As the rift between our world and the next weakened, a plan centuries in the making to bring about the end of the world began to take shape. With it came the Terror Dogs Zuul and Vinz Clortho, possessing human hosts Dana Barrett and Luis Tully, respectively. They were able to complete the union ceremony and open the portal for Gozer to join our plane of existence. It was left to the Ghostbusters to save the possessed New Yorkers and seal the rift.
